Fashion Transformation: Balenciaga Haute Couture Collection Fall-Winter 2024/25

Author:

Art and fashion are inextricably linked, especially when it comes to haute couture. This season’s Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week gave us the opportunity to revisit a world of unique collections inspired by different aspects of culture and art. One of the highlights was the Balenciaga Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2024/25 show under the direction of the talented Demna Gvasalia.

Balenciaga, as a brand, has always been known for its revolutionary approaches to fashion, and this season was no exception. Demna Gvasalia, inspired by subcultures such as goths, skaters and metallers, presented a collection that is a truly unique combination of casual and couture luxury. This contrast became the central theme of the show, expressed through experimentation with shapes, play with textures and unusual accessories.

The show started with meditative music, inviting the audience to enjoy the positive energy. The first image greeted the audience – a wide T-shirt combined with massive light jeans, a jacket tied at the waist, sharp shoes and high black gloves. But the main accent was a giant cape in the shape of an inverted bowl, decorated with feathers and completely covering the model’s face. This unusual headpiece became a symbol of eccentricity and self-expression, through which Demna Gvasalia presented his vision of contemporary couture fashion.

Other outstanding elements of the collection included a textured long coat in a bright blue colour, a dress imitating a folded garment and a model in gold foil with a butterfly accessory covering her face. The seamless transition from casual oversize looks to more elegant and sophisticated looks was completed with a black voluminous nylon cloth made from as much as 47 metres of fabric in just 30 minutes.

For Demna Gvasalia, it is not only the subject matter itself that is important, but also the methods by which he transforms fashion into art. His Balenciaga Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2024/25 collection was not just a fashion show, but a true embodiment of creative audacity and an innovative approach to couture design.

Thus, the Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week continues to inspire us with the amazing art of fashion, where each show is a new embodiment of style and daring. Balenciaga, under the direction of Demna Gvasalia, was a prime example of how contemporary subcultures can influence the recreation of classic motifs in haute couture, creating impressive and memorable looks.
