Sunny and blooming Capri, the island where Jean-Luc Godard created and Karl Lagerfeld admired, was the setting for the new Jacquemus FW 2024/25 show, celebrating the brand’s 15th anniversary. The catwalk for Simon Porte Jacquemus’ collection was the roof of the Casa Malaparte villa, a modernist building on top of a cliff that fascinated the designer at the time of the brand’s creation.
In 2023, the fashion designer used Karl Lagerfeld’s photograph of the view from the roof of this villa as a print on the Bad Bunny singer’s white suit. The owners of the villa were so moved by this that they invited Jacquemus to visit them and allowed him to host a future show. Simon had originally planned a grand couture show in honour of the anniversary, but changed his plans as a sign of respect for the place. On the eve of the show, he told the press that it was important for him to make a collection that reflects the spirit of the house, because the owners entrusted him to organise the event, although many other people were refused.
All the star guests reached the villa by boat – the only way to get there, and only if the weather permits, because this season in Capri is often accompanied by thunderstorms. This time, however, Jacmus was lucky enough to be greeted by warm summer sunshine.
The models climbed 99 steps and paraded on the roof of the villa in front of the admiring guests. The show began with a voluminous creamy yellow coat, reminiscent of a fluffy dressing gown, referring to the image of Brigitte Bardot in Jean-Luc Godard’s film ‘Contempt’, which inspired Simon Porte Jacquemus. The designer continued to emphasise on elegant silhouettes: elegant translucent maxi-dresses with draping, A-silhouette skirts, shirts, coats and tops with oversized collars, strict classic trousers and the brand’s usual shorts-Bermudas.
The collection’s accessories also attracted attention: models showed light silk scarves, soft clutches, wicker shoppers and colourful XXL beach bags. The colour palette of the collection traditionally played with various shades of yellow, red, blue and green, as well as basic white and black tones. In addition, Simon added zebra print, which is atypical for Jacquemus.
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Simon Porte brand, Jacquemus created a collection that embodied the spirit of Capri and the inspiration of the views from the Casa Malaparte villa. Every detail of this show, from the choice of location to the design of the garments, testifies to the impeccable taste and innovative approach of Jacquemus, who continues to delight the fashion world with his unique creations.
